The is a collective effort of Burmese economists living both inside and outside the country to offer a long-term vision for the economic development of Burma.



Bringing together their own intimate knowledge of the country's problems and the possibilities that lie ahead, the scholars ?most of whom are widely travelled and have achieved professional eminence as development specialists in leading universities of the world ?attempt to analyse the main factors which have stood in the way of Burma's participation in the worldwide surge of economic growth in the second half of the twentieth century, and to devise ways in which the country can overcome these obstacles in the future.
